Feminized Seeds

It is true that you can purchase feminized marijuana seeds in order to avoid any possibility of developing male plants in your gardening area. Growing high-quality medicinal cannabis is an intricate process that demands meticulous control over the growing environment. For cannabis growers that care about organic gardening, it's good to remember that, in most cases, feminized seeds are results of chemical manipulation. If you can deal with that, then there are loads of benefits to purchasing feminized marijuana seeds.

Fast facts about effeminate cannabis seeds:

  • Medicinal marijuana breeders began experimentation with Colchicine in the late 60s;
  • Colchicine is a mutagen, a substance that causes defects in genetic codes. It prohibits cellular duplication in both plants and animals;
  • Colchicine can result is doubling, tripling or more of a specific chromosome set;
  • This can be beneficial to marijuana growers because characteristics like increased THC production, resistance to disease and more can be centered on and enhanced;
  • Feminized medical cannabis seeds are quite pricey; so be prepared;

Buying feminized marijuana seeds to grow your own medicinal cannabis with can take away the worries associated with sexing and getting rid of males plants in your all-girl garden areas. Just make sure you're dealing with a reputable seed bank or individual breeder. Never rush into your decisions concerning which strain and brand of feminized cannabis seeds to purchase. The seeds you begin with will heavily influence the final yield and quality you will have developed come harvest time.

Clochicine isnt the only way to feminize seeds. In fact its more common to influence the genetics through the breeding of female plants that have been cross fertilized with the pollen of another "female" plant that has been environmentally manipulated int shock and renurtured through trauma and has been hermorphadited. A female crossed with a hermorphadite will always originally yield females. The catch is that you also have a greater chance of hermorphadites yourself... especially if allowed to fully ripen . Also many Mother donor clone plants have been known to hermorphadite when placed back into a flowering light regime . -westnile

I also love the knowing part and you never have to worry is it male or female and so on and so on. Also even though I do use them I have to agree they cant really be organic if they are feminized.

It is still technically organic. They apply colchicine to a marijuana plant then fertilize it and take the feminized seeds developed and grow those plants to make more feminized seeds. The original plants that were treated with colchicine are lethal as well as their first offspring, but the following generations are completely safe. That may not make everything better but it is safe.

I think that once a seed is feminized it loses its status as organic. As someone who has always used organic soils and nutrients I don't think it's worth the extra money to buy something that has been chemically altered against nature. As long as a male plant is quickly identified it can be removed without affecting the other plants. The key is early detection.

I agree with PhilosopherOG it is a odd and very strange process. If males where not needed or meant to be they just wouldn't exist. You should try to eliminate something like that, males are needed and we shouldn't rely on mutant seeds. However, I will add that knowing before you plant would be nice, but even that can't always be a known fact. What if the seed said to be female turns out to be male? Nature has its ways of fooling you.

This idea creeps me out. I can't get the idea of genetically mutated to go with the idea of organic. There is nothing organic about chemically altered and mutated substances. I'll take my chances as well as enjoy the natural process of finding out whether the plant is male or female. there are great things to be had from the male and the females are out there. It's part of the entertainment of nature and not having to CONTROL the environment. These seeds that have been manipulated are like Frankenstein seeds or a cubic zerconian.
