The times, they have changed. Anyone with a history remembers drug deals in shabby, dank apartments, quickie dope deals at 7-11 and handoffs slicker than Brett Farve. This is a new era. The modern acquiring of Medicinal Marijuana takes place in business plaza with a sign on the door in large letters stating La Jolla Medical Collective. Parking is not as bad as you would think in this upscale La Jolla Village setting. At worst, you park in Jack in the Box and walk two blocks to this treasure trove. You walk inside and it feels like a waiting room for a lawyer with modern art paintings on the wall and comfortable seating. The owner and greeter reassure you that you at the right place. The delicious aromatic delight of the green stuff meets my nose and I knows that I am at the right place. He is casually clothed wearing a S.D. baseball cap worn at a slight tilt. . He gives a warm welcome and asks for proper identification(the usual Drivers license and Medical referral). I know this is a necessity because I was previously politely refused admittance when I only had my card. He is obviously informed and experienced. He tells me of his preference of growing from seed versus clones due to being surer of the strain. He tells me that they are obsessively legal and have 16 lawyers waiting to defend any problems that might occur in this obviously profitable enterprise. Other clinics I have visited were more like a bank vault with push button click doors. Here was an open door with the sight of young plants inside. One buyer walks out with a beatific smile and the ubiquitous brown bag neatly carrying his purchases. Goodbyes are exchanged on first name basis. I walk inside to see a white board containing the menu of products and regular glass display case with quart jars displaying the different strains that are available. This is better than a buffet. There is a lovely young blonde wearing a short skirt and high boots whose lovely legs are available for peeks when you peruse the display case. All of the buds were medium size and had names that made me drool. I asked the young lady for ideas for someone liking the sativa mental high and she suggested snake bite, ogre kush, LA Confidential and Green Crack. Almost all of the strains were in the $50-$55 range. Concentrates, topical s for back aches and more edible that I care to mention were available including pastries and candies, such as Jolly Ranchers. They give a free gram to first time members with a $35 donation. Friday is discount day and a deduction of $10 from the purchase of an eighth. Fat Joints went for $10 each or 2 for $16. They were composed of a composite of leftovers. I was thoroughly satisfied with my visit. I feel like this is a honest endeavor that will give the buyer a fair shake. Unfortunately, I didnt taste or buy anything because of my week abstinence preparing for a saliva test in two days. I cant wait to go back for the real test. The times have changed.

this location is like all of the others in downtown, hard to find parking but beatiful area. the products in the store are average with some that popped out to me like the green crack and sour disiel. the value of their products arnt as good as the prices so i dont know if i would go back unless i get the two strains i talked about before
