Note to self: stay away from florida.

This is outrageous and should end with Gov. Scott being impeached.

Just another incident where the government is trying to make it even harder on those who are already in a bad spot. I understand the whole thing if it were targeting toward heroin and cocaine, but only as a way of seeing who might need help. Not a kick in the teeth. As for even the thought of testing someone for weed in their system do they not have something better to do? Charging people who are fighting on a daily basis just to survive and then punishing them for partaking of a totally natural substance that relieves so many medical problems. Sounds too ignorant to even be real. Florida you really are a bad state. But I fear that other states will follow suit if people don't start standing up and screaming in out rage to our politicians.

Good grief the government just keeps going when it comes to stifling the down trod people. If weed is the worse thing they do they get off their backs.

They should unless they have medical reason/recommendation!Or they are willing to fight to against prohibition. That another wast of money all the people that pretend that there not living with a man that's working. So that they live better than the people that are working. To pay,for them to lay around and do nothing.and the people that are working and supporting them can't afford shit! And I see it every day.It not fare that people on the system live/party + eat better than the ones paying for it.It's a way of life in America,DoN't work.Don't Eat! I'm sick of working my life away for people that just want everything for nothing. no one hands me something for nothing, and I can't afford to have a good time on what I make and I see the people on aid living like kings it pisses me off. There living the good life for year's with there live in boyfriends "on/@" the working mans expensive. We should go back to subsidise food and housing .and home inspections to make sure there not scamming because I believe there's more fraud than not. It's away of life your taught from birth.how to get something for nothing. For many generations. wake up AMERICA!And you should have to show a Birth certificates!

if these people were in such need of welfare and had no other way of getting money of sure not smoking for a few weeks wouldnt be much of a sacrifice. and if i lived in florida i wouldnt want my hard earned money going to someone who will use it to buy some green. not to mention pills or anything else. btw i smoke pot everyday so im not biased

speaking off of what the guy above me just said i have three friends i can name right now who get a bag everytime they get their welfare check. i smoke and i know for a fact that u arent going out and looking for a job when the government gives u money and ur stoned. everyone here knows that if they got free money every once in awhile theyre gonna go buy a bag or bottle or something. not to say everyone does that but i know of three people that do it and it sickens me! there are situations where i believe someone would need a welfare check. and if i was in that situation u bet ur ass im gonna quit smoking for a little bit to get assistance. these government programs need to do a better job of protecting those who are paying into them and weeding out the scammers.

Sorry folks... but if you can't pay your rent, but food, and pay the bills.... then you have NO RIGHT TO SPEND MONEY ON WEED!!!!!

I think this is a good example of why we should be growing our own food and MMJ. Both are quite easy to start and maintain. It is true that most proplr msu not think it's fair to spend government money on "extras", however if it is truly used as medicinal and not recreational than that's a different story. I'd rather not eat and be painfree than the other way around. On another note, I think they believe this is a good way for the state to save money, afterall you have to wait an entire year. That would be a big savings to Florida.

A year is a long time. I think of course if you need to smoke it for a serious medical condition, then on welfare or not you still should have the right to do it.
gbennett1 | Jun 18, 2011
I think that this is completely ridiculous. Due to the fact that they dont make enough on their own the state is trying to label them as drug users. Also the disqualification of up to a year is also crazy. Ayear is actually a long time in that sort of situartion.

Shouldn't be on welfare in the first place. If you wanna smoke, don't be a leech.
SkillitHits247 | Jun 26, 2011
I can see how they would stop the welfare checks when someone is coming up repeatedly with cocaine or heroin test results... But there are all sorts of other addictions out there, even some outrageous wierd ones; whatever the addiction people are going to find a way to name others in the wrong and find a way to capitalize on it. (that's why there are so many administered drug tests for all sorts of reasons)
