I guess that they decided that it was a good idea to harm local businesses. I think that it will definitely have an effect on many families who depend on this as their source of income. It is like if they tried to outlaw alcohol sales in Vegas to those who don't live in the state.

I believe the 5g/day rule and personal grow amounts should be for Dutch residents only, but If you would like to try it as a tourist a "CanaVisa" of sorts would be an easy thing for the Dutch Parliament to office up, regulate and cash in on. 100 euros for a 3 day/15g voucher....think not? THINK SO! I would. As a side note, if you look into the de facto decriminalization the NL have, you realize that this whole thing was started to slow or take a bite out of the black market by removing a main social drug dealer fluid and capitalizing on it at the same time. So, it has worked, they made some serious tourism cash and good exposure, and now it's time to calm it back, just like in the states, it's gotta get cooled back and regulated. "Tightened up", if you will.

caveat: by cooled back I do not mean in terms of policy reform/law reform, Im merely refering to the dispeceries that are started hastily and without pure intention.you all know what i mean. Just like the NL did recently, scaling back from lots and lots to just the right amount of coffee shops. rapid spread does not equal progress sort of mind frame.

i thought the dutch were reasonable peeople. They used to be great traders throughout history. Now they are taking tone of their biggest tourism attractions away. Many buisnesses will be hurt due to the lack of tourism.

This is a really sad thing, for all the individuals who travel there simply for the weed experience in a safe environment. Now without that part of the tourism draw what will the economy replace that lost revenue with? And won't this just promote a more illegal side to the whole industry? well it is a sad thing for sure.

Hmm, kinda sounds like a could move the US Government would make or try to enforce on another country or threaten to stop providing US help or even start war (what happened to Jamaica?). That is just one persons perspective.
The NL will only find out for themselves how this move will hurt their economy.

This is a pretty surprising decision. It will be interesting to see the results of this choice in the next few years. i suppose in the near future they will have to move the Cannabis Cup to a more cannabis friendly country.
