Fibromyalgia and Cannabis

While further studies still need to be conducted, research from the Institut de Recerca Hospital del Mar, in Spain has shown cannabis to provide significant relief for those with fibromyalgia. Fibromyalgia is chronic ailment that require even more chronic medical marijuana. FM causes severe musculatory stiffness and pain and induces severe exhaustion.

Cannabis contains known effects that help with the muscle pain and stiffness associated with FM. For this a strong indica is recommended, however that may not always be suitable due to the fact that FM causes severe drowsiness as it is. For treatment of both symptoms at the same time, a nice hybrid, perhaps a touch on the indica side is recommended. A strong sativa, such as Jack Herer may also suffice, without inducing drowsiness.

The researchers in Spain tested various subjects with fibromyalgia, both those who used cannabis and who did not. Results concluded that cannabis was shown to significantly reduce the symptoms of FM, as well as their overall state of mental health, while those with FM who did not use cannabis, seemed to suffer slightly more.

While most states do not currently issue medical marijuana prescriptions for fibromyalgia, this research may cause many state who allow MMJ to rethink adding it as a legitimate ailment to receive natural, herbal treatment for.

wow! Those of us who have ever used it know it works. I just wish it were legal in my state. The Gov't has one of the largest weed farms in Mississippi and informed the public about it (I think in the 70's) when they began a research study on its' effects on pain, cancer, neurological disorders - everything we know it helps. Thank you for getting the word out. I saved the link and will read more and more. I'm a chronic pain/fibromyalgia/myofascial pain syndrome person. I deal with insomnia, muscle rigidity and pain all day and night. I tried some edibles and I felt great! Pain levels down, was able to sleep etc... Even noticed an improvement in cognitive functions in a big way. However, my Dr's would rather I take the approved pharmaceuticals so they can keep me as a lifelong customer developing new issues and needs for different medications brought on by the medications they're willing to prescribe me. So, every once in a while I'll risk it to get some relief with NO dangerous side effects.

My girlfriend has FB and I recently introduced her to MMJ. She is amazed by the relief provided from mmj. Jack which I use for Bi-polar works wonders for her FB. Definitely want her to to try the Harlequin for the cbd content. Thanks for the posts.

Vaporising an upbeat sativa with high CBD content works great for me. I've been very successful with Harlequin and Lamb's Bread. They don't make me at all drowsy; in fact, I become more alert.

I have FM and it's one of the main reasons I use mmj. It really quiets the rankling nerve/muscle pain and keeps my body loose enough to do the household chores and to go to work. Also, I usually have horrendous nausea in the mornings due to having had brain surgery; a few vapes and I am feeling OK again.
