OK I was at the store the other day and I walked by where the sodas are and I just started staring at the 2 liter bottles of coke(i think it was for awhile)and was wondering how they would do for a soil sea of green set up.I have been looking for something that size but wasn't sure if the roots would outgrow the containers in 2.5 months or so that it takes to do SOG.
Any thoughts on this would be cool,I have seen sog vids before but always with DWC and would rather go with soil/organic.
thanks

I am no expert, but I would think you'd want something a little bigger. At least a 1 to 2 gallon pot. This is just my opinion, but that's what I'd use. I'm not 100% sure but the light passing through the bottle might have an effect on the roots also. Plus I always prefer as much room for roots as possible without taking up too much floor space with pots.

1 gallon pots are preferable for a SOG grow. However, the roots won't outgrow soda bottles, since you flower after a week or less of veg and roots cease to grow around the 3rd week of flower, so the plant can concentrate its growth on the buds forming. The light may burn the roots a little, if the bottles are clear. That's why most pots are black.

Good info to know.

Two gallon pots work great. I used one gallon pots on my first crop out of my last grow grow and got a quarter pound per plant. 24 plants total in my apartments bedroom.
The gallon pots were always root bound tight when I picked though. They also knocked over too easily, so I switched to two gallon size. In the end though it's always better to be too big then too small and for sure a quart sized bottle is way too small.
