Cannabis is America's Number 1 Cash Crop

Cannabis Top Crop in America

Between the 15 states and the District of Columbia which allow the use of medical marijuana, over $40 billion is raked in annually in the production and distribution of this valuable medication. While the government claims that marijuana is a Schedule I substance, meaning it has no medicinal value, the feds have been contradicted by numerous accurate studies proving the medicinal value of cannabis. The following will go to show exactly why marijuana needs to be legalized, if for nothing else than to help get our beloved country out of debt.

In the United States alone, there are an estimated 60 million outdoor cannabis plants growing, with 12 million being grown indoors. As was said before, these crops bring in over $40 billion annually. Just imagine if our government were the legalize the use and cultivation of cannabis. Fields of cannabis could be grown to make hemp paper and thus cut down on deforestation. While there are many benefits to legalizing cannabis, it is likely not soon to happen unless our government drastically changes their stance on cannabis.

Revenue generated from medical marijuana sales greatly exceed that of corn, wheat, barley, tobacco, grapes, oranges, cotton, all other vegetables and hay. Itís currently exalted as the nationís top cash crop, and this does not include all the illegal sales of marijuana that occur daily.

These statistics simply go to show that legalization of cannabis is cardinal to America progressing as a thriving and flourishing nation. The revenue generated in the states and territories which allow medical marijuana largely contributes to the continued success of those states.

I agree with you chronic sufferer. Nothing is going to change until every single person who supports this cause takes action for what they believe in.

Come on we all need to stand up to our politicians and make them realize that this is the wave of the future. We have at our very fingertips a way to help America get out of this stupid economic downfall with just a little weed and they need to do something about it. It is a cash crop, so let's grow.

As long as these people are controlling the money we will NEVER EVER EVER be debt free, as long as we giving the money they will find a way to screw us and make us give them more. CANNABIS SHOULD BE LEGAL BECAUSE IT IS OUR RIGHT TO DO AS WE WISH TO OUR BODIES... AND FUCK ANYBODY WHO PUTS THEIR BELIEFS IN MY HOME. THIS IS THE LAND OF THE FREE?????? MORE LIKE THE LAND OF THE "DO AS THEY ARE TOLD" YOU DO KNOW THAT WE HAVE THE RIGHTS TO KICK THE FEDERAL RESERVE OUT OF OUR COUNTRY!!!!! IT IS A PRIVATE INSTITUTION NOT A GOVERNMENT AGENCY. THESE CROOKS AT THE FED. RES. HAVE BEEN STEALING YOUR MONEY SINCE 1913 AND ALL WE CAN DO IS COME UP WITH NEW WAYS TO GIVE THEM MORE MONEY???? YOU GUYS ARE GUTLESS FUCKS.......THE ONLY WAY TO CURE THE PROBLEM IS TO RID THE LAND OF PARASITES....... PRIVATE CORPORATIONS ARE CALLING THE SHOTS FOR YOU AND THE ONLY SHOTS BEING CALLED ARE PROFITING THEM NOT YOU OR YOUR HUNGRY CHILDREN.

Imagine the tax revenue that could be generated and used to fix decaying social programs like social security and health care.

I wonder how many more years it will actually take for this issue to be resolved? We hear stories about all of the benefits of medical marijuana and growing hemp, yet there were about 900,000 arrests last year in relation to cannabis. i know I'm not alone in thinking this is ridiculous and if we all finally make a stand we can tell the fed to f off....it's supposed to be a government for the people.

It's true that you learn or pick up something new everyday. I never considered the idea that we can generate hemp paper in order to cut down on deforestation. Also there was that deal about hemp plants being used to clear the soil from radioactive traces. Just imagine that MMJ could be the one thing that is needed to drastically cut down on this trillion dollar debt that the gov. has right now. If it is then it will be great day for us all.

I knew that cannabis was California's number one cash crop, but I did not know that it was for all of America. The whole time I was reading this I kept thinking that if they taxed that profit by just 5% it would mean 2 billion dollars per year for our country. That money could be used where it is desperately needed; in our schools and social works programs. There is no logical reason not to tax this product, there is only bias and the need to keep industries afloat that widespread use of hemp as a material could destroy.

Very true Rastamanhae. Lets not forget all the people IN PRISON FOR Marijuana; if they legalize MMJ nearly all the inmates incarcerated for marijuana(non-violent crimes) would be released = A LOT OF TAX DOLLARS NO LONGER GOING TO THE GOVERNMENT.

Why do they continue to ignore the benefits of cannabis?! Rastaman is right, they are going to have to jump on the band wagon at some point. They are in serious need of the money that they could be making, so it is only a matter of time.

Action speaks louder than words and statistics have proven hemp to be a viable product. There are just so many numerous ways to use hemp, not to mention the medicinal marijuana. It will be very interesting to see how this all evolves. Our government will be first in line for their share of the wealth (they've already begun with the taxation aspect). They'll do a 180 as soon as they find a way to make huge profits for themselves. Then all of a sudden it won't be called a drug and it will be sold everywhere.

I guess the feds are really worried about lying to us and maintaining that there is no med value in weed because the phramaceudical companies need to continue trumping the natural homeopathic industry for capital. The overwhelming demand for weed will end up balancing things out and the gov't will have to jump on the band wagon and abandon pill companies and other organ destroyers.

Hemp paper would be a big saver on our trees for that reason alone they should let it be grown.
